A low alloy steel is generally defined as having 2% to 10 % total alloy content comprising of one or more of the following elements: Chromium, Manganese, Molybdenum, Nickel. The primary function of these elements is to increase the hardenability in order to optimize the mechanical properties and toughness after heat treatment.

These alloys can be stocked in the as-rolled, normalized, annealed, or Quenched and Tempered Heat Treat conditions.

Common grades Energy Alloys stocks: 4130, 4130M, 4140, 4145M, 4330M, 4340, 8620, 8630M, & F22
